Esteemed energy specialist brings a wealth of wind O&M expertise to scale inspection efforts
(April 28, 2023) – Nearthlab, a leading provider of autonomous drone solutions, announced that John Franklin is joining the organization as a strategic advisor and consultant. John will devise and direct initiatives to expand the company’s footprint across North America.
“The decision to hop onboard felt like a no-brainer,” said Franklin. “Nearthlab has been bridging the gap between technological possibilities and practical applications from the moment it first fell on my radar. I couldn’t be more excited for the opportunity to continue making history as part of the team.”
John brings decades of experience in clean energy. After a storied career as a power plant engineer, John moved into operations management, overseeing the development of large-scale wind power projects that amount to nearly 4,000 megawatts in production capacity. As an Executive Vice President of RWE Renewables, John is spearheading efforts to streamline the rollout of operational and maintenance strategy for the company’s contracted wind assets.
“We’re in the business of changing the way turbines are inspected, and that requires working with some of the brightest minds in the field,” said Jay Choi, co-founder and CEO. “John’s extensive background and expertise in wind O&M, dubbed with his bottomless zest for innovation, will serve as a tremendous asset as we keep on breaking the mold with our cutting-edge solutions.”
